POKETIC WIKI · PLAYER GUIDE

HOW POKETIC PLAYS.

Clients, controls, catching, combat, gear, PvP and trading – everything a trainer needs to know, in one place.

01 · Getting started

ONE ACCOUNT. EVERY WORLD.

Poketic is a free-to-play Pokémon MMO fan project. You sign in once and take the same Pokémon, items and progress into every client.

Unreal Engine client

The full 3D MMO: open-world catching, real-time sword and Pokémon combat, Metin Stones, ranked arenas and the Kanto world. Windows, PC VR, Android and Meta Quest.

Poketic Recomp

Gen 1 Pokémon Red and Gen 2 Pokémon Gold, connected online with other trainers. Windows, PC VR, Android and Meta Quest.

Play Direct

Pokémon Gold online in your browser. Sign in on the home page and play without installing anything. Keyboard and gamepad work.

  • Your team (6 slots) and storage (220 slots) are shared by every client. A client only shows the Pokémon its generation can use; the others wait safely in storage.
  • Each generation keeps its own moveset for the same Pokémon, so Red, Gold and Unreal battles follow their own rules.
  • The Kanto starter choice is shared between Red and the Unreal client. Gold has its own starter.
  • Catching, combat, loot and trades are decided by the server, not by your device.
  • Travel between Unreal worlds with the Teleport menu, for example Teleport to Kanto.

02 · Controls

PLAY IT YOUR WAY.

PC, phone, gamepad and VR follow the same rules. Damage comes from hits, not from the device you play on.

03 · Catching & Pokédex

THROW. CATCH. KEEP.

Catching is a real throw. In VR you throw with your own hand; on PC, phone and gamepad you aim at your target and throw with one button.

25 ball types

The standard Poké Ball never runs out. Special balls come from your bag, and every valid throw uses one, even on a miss. In VR, switch ball type with the right stick while you hold a ball; on PC and phone, pick it in the inventory.

What changes the odds

Remaining HP, level, size and weight, types, time of day, your Pokédex and your party all count. Special balls add their own bonuses: a Quick Ball is strongest on your first throw at a target, a Lure Ball works on fished Pokémon, and a Master Ball always catches once it connects.

Near misses count

A ball that flies close past a Pokémon can still pull it in. Weakened, small and low-level Pokémon are drawn in more often. Then the normal catch roll decides, and the Pokémon can still break out.

Wild Pokémon

Every Pokémon has its own size, and shiny variants exist. Some wild Pokémon sprint away when you approach; aggressive ones fight back against your partner.

Starters in the wild

In Kanto, Bulbasaur can appear in Viridian Forest, Charmander on Routes 3 and 4, and Squirtle on Routes 24 and 25, each as 3% of the local encounters.

Pokédex

Unlocks through the story. A species is registered only when you catch it yourself or evolve a Pokémon you caught, never through trades, gifts, starters, eggs or rewards. On PC and phone the scanner finds the nearest Pokémon you have not caught yet and reads its entry aloud. The VR Pokédex reads every species.

04 · Battles

TURN-BASED AND REAL-TIME.

Poketic has two kinds of fights: classic team battles with full competitive rules, and real-time action in the open world.

Classic team battles

Singles and doubles against wild Pokémon, trainers and other players, with complete competitive battle rules. Rental battles let two players fight with Random, Challenge or Hackmons teams from Gen 1, 2 or 3.

Real-time combat

You fight with a sword or bow, your character skills and one partner Pokémon, with five more in your team. You lose when your own HP reaches zero or all six Pokémon have fainted.

Aura of the Sword

A buff that lasts 3 minutes and raises your attack by up to 35%. It levels up by itself (20 levels) from defeating and catching wild opponents.

Piercing Wave

A wave that cuts through a 5 m long, 2 m wide line in front of you for 270 damage. 12-second cooldown.

Shockwave

A stomp that hits everything around you for 90 damage.

Pokémon Ultimate

Charges from combat damage, faster for Pokémon with high Speed. Place it as an area attack with a 16 m radius, or let it fire automatically at full charge. All 18 types have their own Ultimate effect; it uses your Pokémon's physical or special attack.

Type matchups in action

Real-time type effects are flat: +12.5% per effective type and −12.5% per resisted type, up to ±25%. Immunities count as resistances. Your sword's crystal type only counts against other players.

Riding into battle

While you ride, your mount attacks on its own next to your sword, including its Ultimate. The mount itself takes no damage.

Pokémon Only Mode

A settings switch for trainers who only want to battle with Pokémon: your sword stays stored and non-Pokémon monsters are hidden for you.

05 · Metin Stones & loot

AURAS UP. STONES DOWN.

Metin Stones are the heart of real-time combat. Each stone is tied to a boss Pokémon whose type, size and power decide how hard the fight gets.

Three waves

At 75%, 50% and 25% stone HP, a wave of 4–10 monsters of 2–3 kinds appears. Stronger stones call bigger and stronger waves.

Monster roles

Melee fighters, Smashers that hit an area, Chargers, Ranged shooters, Throwers, stationary Turrets, Casters with area spells and Summoners that call more monsters. Monsters also roam the world in packs of 3–6.

Ground loot

Equipment and crystals drop on the ground with your name on them. For 5 minutes only you can pick them up; after that anyone can, until they vanish at 10 minutes. A full inventory never destroys a reward: it moves in automatically when space frees up.

06 · Gear & upgrades

MAKE IT YOURS.

You wear one weapon (sword or bow), one armor and one Energy Crystal. Every item is unique, with its own rolls and upgrade level.

Weapons

Swords and bows start at 60 base damage plus a personal bonus between +6% and +66%. Most rolls land at +10% to +15%; +66% is a one-in-a-million jackpot. The bonus stays when you upgrade.

Armor

Armor changes how your trainer looks. It is purely cosmetic and gives no stats.

The Blacksmith

Upgrade swords, bows and armor from +0 to +9 for gold. Drag the item onto the Blacksmith; in VR, use the upgrader in your inventory. A failed attempt can destroy the item. With an Upgrade Protection Stone, a failure lowers it by one level instead.

Bag and inventory

The item bag has at least 400 slots on pages of 20. Equipment has its own inventory with two pages of 45.

  • Stronger Metin Stones roll better crystals. Life steal and crystal types are rolled separately.

07 · Breeding & eggs

BREED. HATCH. GAMBLE.

Two ways to get new Pokémon from your own: a sealed egg, or a gamble.

Sealed eggs

Breeding gives you an egg. Its species, stats, size and shiny status are fixed when it is made, but stay hidden until it hatches.

Hatching

Eggs hatch with an Instant Hatch Stone. Winners of ranked Pokémon battles can earn them.

Baby Pokémon

Hatched Pokémon start at level 1 and tiny: 5% of their size at level 1, 15% at level 5, full size from level 6. Before level 6 you cannot ride, fly or swim with them.

Gamble

Put two parents in and get one new Pokémon right away. Both parents are used up.

08 · Travel & Kanto

RIDE. FLY. SWIM.

Big enough Pokémon from your team can carry you over land, through the air and across water.

Ride, fly and swim

Choose a suitable Pokémon from your party to ride or fly. Entering water switches you to swimming automatically. While you ride, fly or swim, no partner walks beside you.

Kanto

Teleport to Kanto and arrive in Pallet Town. Trainers wait on Routes 1 to 4 and in Viridian Forest, and every route has its own Metin Stone.

Pokémon League

Defeat all eight Gym Leaders to open Indigo Plateau. Then face the Elite Four – Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha and Lance – and Champion Blue.

Earn your wings

Flying in Kanto unlocks after all eight badges and all five League wins. In co-op, every player needs their own unlock.

09 · Bow, fishing & fireworks

FIELD TOOLS.

Tools for the open world, used from the field tools panel on PC and phone or with your hands in VR.

Bow

A weapon drop that takes the sword's slot. Hold to draw (full power after about 1.2 seconds) and release to shoot; arrows fly in a real arc. In VR, hold the bow and pull the string back with your other hand.

Fishing

Cast up to 25 m onto water. A bite comes after 3–7 seconds and you have 1.8 seconds to strike. Hold to reel in, but too much tension snaps the line. You hook Magikarp (70%), Goldeen (15%) or Poliwag (15%) as a wild Pokémon to catch – the Lure Ball works best here.

Firework Rocket

A purely cosmetic rocket with a random color for every launch. Each launch uses one rocket from your bag.

10 · PvP & ranked

QUEUE UP. CLIMB.

Fight other trainers in colosseum arenas, climb the ranked leagues from Z up to A, or watch any running match.

Arenas and spectating

Matches are fought in colosseum arenas. Open the match list to watch any running battle and return to where you were afterwards. Walking into a stage arena's entrance asks if you want to join its queue.

Pokémon battle rewards

Every ranked winner gets a level-1 Pokémon. Higher leagues unlock rarer species and better IVs. From league E up, each of 11 legendaries can appear – from 1 in 50,000 at E to 1 in 10,000 at A per legendary. Winners can also receive Instant Hatch Stones (3% in the lowest leagues, 20% in league A).

Metin 1v1 rewards

The winner has a 33% chance at a sword or armor. Higher leagues roll better weapon bonuses.

Team rules

Singles needs at least one Pokémon in your team, doubles at least two. In a casual doubles party, each partner brings at least one.

11 · Trading

TRADE FACE TO FACE.

Trade Pokémon, bag items, equipment and gold directly with another player.

  • Pick a player from Nearby Players or their player menu and choose Trade. They accept the request.
  • Both of you drag Pokémon and items into your side of the trade window and can add gold with the number pad. You always see both offers live.
  • Press Lock when your side is ready. A locked side turns red and can no longer change.
  • When both sides are locked, both players confirm and the trade happens in one step. The X cancels it for both players at any time.

12 · Social

DON'T PLAY ALONE.

Chat, friends, profiles and emotes work across the clients.

Chat

Global chat is shared by Red, Gold and the Unreal client. The Unreal client adds local, group and whisper chat. The chat window can be moved, resized and minimized; VR has its own movable window and keyboard. Blocked players are filtered out.

Friends

Add friends and see where they are playing right now.

Nearby Players

Lists trainers within 30 m. Pick one to add a friend, invite to a party, send a message, block, trade, duel or start a battle.

Your profile

Headline, a short About text, favorite Pokémon, play style, what you are looking for and handles for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch and Discord. Choose who sees it: public, friends or private. Edit on PC or phone; in VR the profile is view-only.

Emotes

26 emotes including 7 dances and partner emotes that the other player has to accept. Put eight favorites on your emote wheel.

Sword on your back

Stow your sword on your back and draw it again. In VR, reach over your shoulder and let go.

13 · Red & Gold online

RED & GOLD. ONLINE.

Poketic Recomp brings Pokémon Red (Kanto) and Pokémon Gold (Johto) online, connected to the same account as everything else.

Shared world

See other trainers with their names and their following Pokémon. Pick which Pokémon follows you in the party menu.

Optional mods

Bundled with the client and off by default; turn them on in the Mod Manager: a 3D voxel and first-person view, first-person interiors, weather effects and Wilds of Kanto with wild Pokémon in the overworld.

Poketic PC

The shared storage for all clients. Deposit, withdraw, swap, reorder and release Pokémon.

Bag

Online, your bag never fills up and stacks hold up to 999. It is the same bag as in the Unreal client.

Online Red

Wild encounters while walking or surfing happen a third as often as in the original. The Safari Zone, fishing, legendaries and trainers are unchanged.

Numbers describe the current live game and can change with balance updates. Found something wrong? Report it.
